Everybody on the internet needs to take a moment to put all our stupid political squabbles and shit behind and come together to stop this bullshit. This is SCARY FUCKING STUFF, and if you like consuming things like fanmade content or parodies or any kind of independent news, then it affects YOU.

Yesterday Article 13(and 11) were passed in the first round. PLease go here if you are european, you can send twitter, email messages and call your country’s representatives. Hell, if your american just pick a country and messages these people to help us out.

As of July 4th 2018, the Internet as we know it might be dead for good.

The European Parliament is passing a new Copyright Directive.
Article 13 #CensorshipMachine will impose widespread censorship of all the content we share online. Art, fanfiction, parodies, remixes, mashups, memes, etc.. Anything that you do not hold the rights over will be taken down.

Article 13 would force all online platforms to police and prevent the uploading of copyrighted content, or make people seek the correct licenses to post that content. Internet platforms hosting large amounts of user-uploaded content must monitor user behaviour and filter their contributions to identify and prevent copyright infringement.

Such filters will be mandatory for platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit and Instagram, but also much smaller websites.

This doesn’t just affect Europe. The content creators you love are going to be in hot water for sharing their art and writing with you online. Any and all content that doesn’t belong to us will be filtered. Even memes are at risk, as the person who took the original photo may want to file complaints against any platform that allows it to be used without permission. But it goes even further than that.

Last Tuesday (19th June 2018) a group of more than 70 people who have played important roles in building the internet and developing it (Tim Berners-Lee, Vincent Cerf, Jimmy Wales, Mitchell Baker…) into what it is today addressed an open letter to the members of the European Parliament:

“As creators ourselves, we share the concern that there should be a fair distribution of revenues from the online use of copyright works, that benefits creators, publishers, and platforms alike.

But Article 13 is not the right way to achieve this. By requiring Internet platforms to perform automatic filtering all of the content that their users upload, Article 13 takes an unprecedented step towards the transformation of the Internet from an open platform for sharing and innovation, into a tool for the automated surveillance and control of its users. […] The damage that this may do to the free and open Internet as we know it is hard to predict, but in our opinions could be substantial.”

When Thanos disappeared along with half the universe, Thor had never felt more lost and alone in his entire existence than he did in that moment. The rock on which he stood seemed to stop spinning and the god fell to his knees as those around him cried out their agony.
A heavy rain began to fall and those remaining looked to the sky in varying states of grief. Some used the rain to hide their tears while others cursed at an indifferent sky, shouting their anger and pain to the world.
Thor looked at the sky and remembered his loss, his people, his brother, his home, his-
Bruce.
Thor jumped to his feet, scanning the area in a panic, his unease only increasing when he couldn’t see the scientist.
If Bruce was gone then, then Thanos had done more than win the battle.
If Bruce was gone he won the war…
Thor had to find the hulk buster.
The god got to his feet, and at the moment it felt like the only thing keeping his upright was his desperation. He walked past broken forms of his remaining teammates as they mourned their losses and stepped over the condensed forms of those lost, declining to pray for rest that he refused to let be eternal.
The rain soaked through Thor’s amor as he searched, not quite walking but not quite running either. Thor could easily jump into the air and search but, the god could not help but fear what he might find in the ruins of the suit.
He found the hulkbuster in a clearing by a wall of rock, the machine now a mangle of twisted metal and exposed wires. The head had been opened although by force or by Bruce he wasn’t sure. The rain was pouring heavier as Thor ran from the treeline, his vision blurring but still unable to see anything moving.
The pounding of his muddy steps as he ran rung in Thor’s ears as he collapsed next to the suit, searching inside and finding only his worst fears come true.
“Bruce! BRUCE! Are you here? Can you hear me?” Thor shouted, disbelieving. He stood and spun in a frantic circle, looking for footsteps, ash, any indication that he was terribly horribly wrong.
And he nearly sobbed when he was vindicated.
A soft sound came from his right and Thor whipped around, seeing that in the elbow joint of the hulkbuster’s remaining arm, was Bruce Banner. Curled into himself, his arms on his knees, looking incredibly fragile and small.
“Bruce.” Thor breathed, incredibly soft. He knelt next to Bruce’s shivering form, gently trying to pry his arms away from his face, only to let go when Bruce shook his head. “Bruce look at me, please.”
Bruce shook his head again, “I can’t… I can’t stand the thought of looking at you only to lose you.”
Thor’s heart broke even more than it already had and the only thing he could think of doing was pulling on Bruce harder until he jerked away, his wet face looking up at him and scowling.
“Look around you Thor, the world is ending.” He snapped, gesturing wildly. “I-I did this! I couldn’t become the hulk, I c-couldn’t save anyone. And now, And now! I have to, to be one of the people who survives. I shouldn’t be here! And you shouldn’t be here. You should be helping the other people who deserve it. Or saving the world, b-but I can’t, I can’t do anything. I didn’t do anything!”
Thor shook his head, unable to speak unable to respond in away but shaking his head and grabbing Bruce’s flailing hands until the man calmed.
Thor couldn’t bring himself to move, knowing that Bruce is alive, and warm and here, he clings to the fluttering pulse under his thumb. Bruce in turn has quieted, staring up at the sky as Thor kneels almost in his lap, the heavy rain washing the salt from his eyes. They stayed like that for awhile, in the wreckage of the world, two brave men fall apart in each others arms as the world falls to ruin around them.
The rain begins to lighten when Thor looks up into Bruce’s face, “I didn’t, come to find you because I had too… Or because we need you. I came because I need you.”
Bruce blinks and Thor reaches up, stroking Bruce’s face gently, bringing him closer, softly, slowly, and the man uncurls himself following.
Bruce knelt forward in the mud and rain, his hands resting on Thor’s knees, “Say it again.” Bruce whispered against Thor’s lips, eyes wet. “Tell me you need me.”
Thor let out a small sob and he kissed Bruce in a way that said everything left unsaid. “I need you.” He whispered. “I need you, I need you.”
“I need you too.”

It’s been so long since Bruce has allowed anyone near enough to touch him, he can’t afford to let it happen, it’s too dangerous. But God does he miss it, and he hates himself for admitting it, but he revels in little accidental touches, like a comforting squeeze on the arm or fingers brushing against his. He doesn’t dare give in to that need, the need to be touched and held and loved, he’s too afraid of hurting someone, like he has in the past.

And then there’s Thor. Warm, affectionate Thor, who is probably more physical than some people would like. But Bruce trusts him most out of everyone, knows that if anything happened, he couldn’t hurt Thor. And slowly, he starts to let his guard down, lets Thor pat his arm or squeeze his shoulder, and eventually they grow more and more comfortable around each other, Thor stroking Bruce’s hair while they’re sitting alone together and Bruce falling asleep in his arms at night. He’s missed this so much, this intimacy with another person, but now that he’s with Thor, it was worth the wait.
